Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Abridged edition

Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek god. I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. That's when things started really going wrong. Now I spend my time fighting with swords, battling monsters with my friends and generally trying to stay alive.

This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea . . .

Now a major film! This is an abridged edition, read by Walter Lewis. Running time: 3 hours.

The Chris Columbus directed movie, based on the book, is due out on Feb 12, but this is a fabulous entertainment in its own right. Kati Nicholl Daily Express

„The Beginning“

, Thalia-Buchhandlung Wien

Percy is a normal student through and through, and it isn't his fault that he is a bad student, it's only that he's dyslexic and suffers from ADHD and studying is quite hard for him. And it's surely not his fault that nearly all the teachers hate him, especially his Math teacher, who LITTERALY transforms into a Fury and tries to kill him.

But ever since that incident. Percy’s whole life was turned upside down. He found out that the Greek Gods really exist, but not only the Gods, the monsters from the old myths - Cyclopes, Furies, Manticores, etc. - are alive too! And because he is the son of a God - a Demigod -, all those monsters (and sometimes the Gods themselves) are trying to kill him. The only place he should be safe is "Camp Half Blood", a camp for Demigods and Friends.

Okay first and foremost: the books are just great, I simply LOVE them. They're exciting, full of suspense, well written and full with Greek mythology, so that you even learn something while reading them.

Absolut fantastisches Buch, auch für das Aufbessern des Schulenglisch geeignet.

A great combination of our world and greek mythology. Funny, fast-paced, full of adventure.
