Meine letzte Rezension Love Me Always von Samantha Jayne
Anastacia, daughter of the Bratva leader, has been dreading this day since she was 18. Marrying Lorenzo means security. Avoiding a war between the two most dangerous families around - the Ricci’s and the Fedorovs’. Where do I even begin. The tropes – enemies to lovers, arranged marriage, he falls first – really intrigued me. Especially when they’re wrapped up in a dark mafia romance. The whole concept of the book is good in general, but the execution of it was done poorly in my opinion. Anastacia is supposed to be a strong female protagonist, which she is at the beginning of the book. But as soon as Lorenzo came around she turned into a different person. Each to their own, but Lorenzo honestly gave me the ick throughout the whole book. And I’m saying this as a person, who’s read a lot of books with morally grey MMC’s. The continuous disrespect towards Anastacia and her responses to it, just didn’t make sense to me and weren’t necessary at all. One thing about Samantha Jayne, though, is that her storytelling is really amazing. This fact kept me going and actually made me finish this book, which is almost 500 pages long. She really knows how to keep you interested and hooked.

    Twisted Games

After reading "Twisted Love" by Ana Huang and immediately falling in love with her writing style, I had to read the second part of the "Twisted" series as well. In this part we accompany the princess of Eldorra - Bridget - who we already know from the first part of the series. With a heavy heart, she says goodbye to her previous bodyguard, who is being replaced by Rhys. He implements new security measures to better protect her, but Bridget is reluctant to compromise. Despite the turbulent phase of getting to know each other, they become friends over time. The more time they spend together, the harder it is to ignore the spark that exists between them. But when Bridget learns that her brother chose love over Eldorra and is thus abdicating, her world turns upside down. Her brother has been preparing his whole life to become king and now Bridget must not only acquire all the knowledge in a short time, but also give up the freedom she had in the USA. But the future queen of Eldorra can't be with her bodyguard, and after her brother's abdication, she doesn't want to cause a stir. Besides, the crown would go to her hated cousin and she doesn't want that either. Is there really a future for Rhys and Bridget...? I really liked the dynamic between Bridget having to take on responsibilities as the future queen and Rhys not neglecting his duties as her bodyguard. The fact that Alex from "Twisted Love" and Rhys couldn't be more different also surprised me. If you're in the mood for a slow burn romance and forbidden love, you'll have fun reading "Twisted Games".

    King of Wrath

After finishing the Twisted Series and longing for more I immediately picked up the first part of the King of Sin series. As the result of blackmail, billionaire CEO Dante Russo is pressured into marrying jewelry heiress of his newest enemy, Vivian Lau. Being the perfect daughter that she is, she tries to fulfill her duty while Dante tries everything in his power to get out of the deal. Dante is written in the same way a lot of Ana Huang’s ficitional men are - posessive and rich - yet somehow he ended up being one of my favorite. The same goes for Vivian. Seeing her put in a lot effort into this relationship, while setting boundaries was executed very well. Being part of her journey through trying to break a cycle of meeting her parents expectations and being a people pleaser in general felt so special. Pairing these two together was incredible and the Twisted references always made me smile. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series brings!

    Done and Dusted

After some turbulence in her life Clementine „Emmy“ Ryder decides to move back to her hometown. Just temporarily of course. Or so she thought. When Luke Brooks, Emmy’s older brother’s best friend sees her at his bar, her plans are guaranteed to fall through. Emmy knows that she has other things to focus on, yet she still finds herself infatuated by him. I honestly loved seeing Emmy’s journey trying to get back on a horse after her accident. Especially while having the sweetest, most unproblematic cowboy by her side. Of course this book was a little predictable, but it was nonetheless such a comforting and cute book. Lyla Sage not only captured such a beautiful romantic love, but also what it means to have a supportive family and a supporting friend, loving you unconditionally through all your struggles. As cute as this relationship is, the spice didn’t dissapoint. The author perfectly executed the fact that you don’t have to be disrespectful to be interesting or sexy. After reading a lot of (bad) dark romance I knew I needed a palate cleanser. A book that makes me giggle, blush and kick my feet while reading. The Rebel Blue Ranch Novel gave me exactly what I was looking for and I can’t wait to see what „Swift and Saddled“ is about!

  • Elvis and Me von Priscilla Presley

    Elvis and Me

After watching the movie „Priscilla“ I was not only mesmerized by the aesthetics of the film, but also amazed at Priscilla Presley’s story. Hearing her point of view was really interesting, but leaving the cinema I felt like something was missing. Which is why I immediately ordered this book and started reading it the second I got home. Priscilla was only 14 years old when she met Elvis, who was 24 at that point in time. Though spending some time apart, they still ended up married when she was 21. I wasn’t sure what writing style to expect, but Priscilla Presley is simple and honest, which made this an easy read. She captured their love in an honest way and didn’t sugarcoat their age gap or the other flaws of their story. While Elvis’ manipulation was easy to spot for me as the reader, I couldn’t help but feel sad for the girl who got taken advantage of and the many girls who are still in a similar situation today. Overall I’m really glad that I’ve read this book, since it did answer questions that popped into my head after watching the movie. And although I’ve always seen Priscilla as an absolute style icon and found myself inspired by her many looks, I now know what they mean and think about that everytime I do my dramatic winged eyeliner.
