But a dark angel has taken over the House of Night, supported by High Priestess Neferet. Not so great. This leaves Zoey hiding out with the (supposedly friendly) red fledglings in Tulsa's prohibition-era tunnels. The not greatness continues. Zoey has some boy-thoughts to distract her, with a chance to make-up with super-hot-ex Eric. But thoughts of the archer that died, semi-permanently, in her arms also keep distracting her. Then he shows up as Neferet's newest minion. Well, hell. Zoey and friends need a plan to put things right, soon, if she's to keep both head and heart intact.

    Zoey und ihre Freunde sind vor Kalona, dem neuauferstandenen gefallenen Engel und seiner neuen Geliebten Neferet geflüchtet. Er übernimmt das Kommando über die Schule und die ganze Stadt. Alle sind seinem Charme verfallen, aber niemandbemerkt die Gefahr, die von ihm ausgeht. Zoey versucht mithilfe ihrer Freunde und den roten Jungvampyren, Kalona in die Flucht zu schlagen...

    Den fünften Teil der House of Night Reihe habe ich sehr schnell gelesen, denn ich konnte es kaum erwarten, zu erfahren, wie die Geschichte weitergeht.

    Zoey Redbird and her vampyre friends had to flee the House of Night after Headmistress and High Priestess Neferet raised Kalona, an ancient evil immortal and his equally evil Raven Mocker offspring and servants.

    Zoey and Co have taken refuge in the tunnel home of Stevie Rae and the red vampires.

    They urgently need to come up with a plan what to do. Strangely, seeking help from some other Houses of Night – after all the one in Tulsa is not the only one – is never mentioned.

    Zoey, after having broken up with or having lost all her boyfriends in the previous novel is now once more making up with Erik and Heath. Oops, once again one boyfriend too many. And especially Erik is extremely jealous and not amenable to a threesome. Or might it end up a foursome?

    Also of the party is Darius, a member of the Sons of Erebus, a group of Vamyre Warriors. The sons of Erebus are amazing Warriors and have astonishing physical gifts, but in my opinion they seriously suck as bodyguards. In the previous novel a bunch of the sons of Erebus allowed Shekinah, a visiting high priestess they were guarding, to be killed under their noses. In this novel Zoey, whom Darius has sworn to serve, is hurt.

    I think Zoey, a girl who is consistently interested in more than one guy at the same time, needs to take relationship tips from Laurell K. Hamilton's heroines.

    The first half of the book was rather slow reading, but the pace and action picked up in the second half of the book, I enjoyed that.
